The First Night – Emergency Shelter Project

The Problem

In the US alone, almost 20 people per minute are abused by an intimate partner. This is about 10,000,000 people, where 1 out of 3 are women, and 1 out of 4 are men.

Women and children are the most affected, with 1 out 15 children witnessing this violence at least once in their lives.

Something needs to be done to help the victims of domestic abuse. Most of them, despite knowing about help around them, are unable to go for it because they fear retaliation from their partners. They feel shame and embarrassment that prevents them from seeking aid. They also lack emotional support, and this can increase anxiety, fear, anger, depression, suicide thoughts, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

The Program

For most people like Mary, a home should be a source of refuge. A place that should evoke strong feelings of comfort, warmth, safety, and stability. However, home is hell for them.

The Comfort Home Place is stepping in to help them through our project called “The First Night,” an emergency shelter service that will offer victims of domestic abuse a safe place for them to escape from their spouses and rebuild their lives. We receive a lot of calls currently, we are sending our clients to shelter homes, some of which are in a poor state, often in remote areas.

We need to help them, we need to do this the right way. We need to buy a house for them so that we can offer them a safe refuge that will protect them from physical harm.

The First Night will be a resource for our skills training initiative aimed at helping them develop skills that will help them become independent in life.

What You Can Do

Our goal is to raise $100,000 for the project. The money will go towards purchasing the house and renovating it to offer a transitional home service for women and children affected by domestic abuse.

We believe that with your help, we can reach our goal, one step at a time.

Join us in our campaign and help us by donating through the form below so that we can help victims of domestic abuse like Mary regain control of their lives.

Your help will be much appreciated.
